Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Acid wash the aluminium.
  2. Start the sanding process. If you don’t need to sand, then cut using the Kwikkut Wheel and TR2 Tripoli.
  3. We use acid. That takes out any rouge from before and those burn lines!
  4. We apply Pro 40 on the aluminum and color using Joker green and purple, or any secondary cutting/coloring buff of your choosing using green moss coloring rouge. Usually you can stop there and that will be a great finish! If not you will go to step 5…
  5. Use the Domet Flannel at 1500 to 1800 RPM and any of your high luster finishing bars (Max Red, Blue Moon or white lightning)

Acid wash first before first cut. First cut (Tr2 Tripoly) do not have at full RPM. Apply rouge and spread it around diamond plate. If you run your RPMs too fast you’ll use up most of the rouge. Slowly spread it around and you’ll see that you will get build up but that’s okay… Spray on our special sauce! (DM us on IG for that personal tip). It will dilute build up and almost make it into a liquid polish. Apply a little more rouge and run it again (you can turn the RPMs up a little more to around 2600). Make sure to hit diamond at different angels. Then, use your Pro 40 from Zephyr Polishes while using either your Green Joker Wheel or the purple and white wheel with either the red max or green moss rough running at about 22-2400 RPMs, making sure to always hit it with different angels to make it pop. You can do a final wipe down with Pro 25 to make that super high luster shine, or apply Pro 25 and take off with the Domet Flannel and max red bar at 1800 RPM.

Makita 9237c (what we prefer)  (variable speed 3200 rpm max), RAKE, fast cut with Tr2 Tripoli for 1st cut, “Giuseppe” (White/purple) with green moss and pro 40 secondary cut/color and a Domet Flannel with Max Red for final finish.

Always start from the right going to left and back on the same line, then move up…. Some spots you may need to sit on a little longer, add more rouge or go a little slower to get scratches out. Next thing we do is re-acid wash so it totally cleans the tank and gets rid of all the Tripoli from the cut. This process helps eliminate any Burn Marks or Zebra stripes. Next, apply a coat of pro 40 and polish with giuseppe (3200 rpm) and green moss. Next, apply more pro 40 and use domet flannel at about 1600 rpm with Max Red bar for finish. The reason we use pro 40 between steps is because you are usually supposed to do it by hand after the polishing is done to seal and protect the aluminum.
